My client needed a house to replace a previously converted shed elsewhere on their rural Victorian property. Their evolving brief required accommodation for them and their family as well as for business and recreational use.
The 400+m2 four-bedroom masonry veneer house is approached through a rammed earth feature wall and a courtyard. Two separate living and sleeping zones, a Loggia deck and lap pool overlooking the river, enjoy stunning elevated views over the countryside.
The east orientation of the site, on a ridge overlooking a river, presented particular issues due to the low morning sun angles. We specified special glazing to mitigate solar heating.
